BlueHill Wiki: user guide
For anyone on your team who writes, reads or organizes pages in the BlueHill wiki: runbooks, policies, meeting notes, how-to guides and the articles behind your help center. Start here, then follow the guides in order or jump to the one you need.
What the wiki is
The wiki is where your team writes down how it works. Every page lives in a knowledge base and, if you like, in a folder or under a parent page. Pages start as drafts, are published when they are ready, and keep every saved version so nothing is lost. Teammates can comment on a passage, mention each other, link a page to a board task or a support ticket, and share a page with the whole workspace or with a few people.
A knowledge base can also be made public. Its published pages then appear on your customer help center as articles. You write and manage those articles in the same wiki; the help center's own dashboard, publish bar, categories, domains and reviews are covered in the Help Center guides.
Key terms
| Term | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Page | One document in the wiki. A page has a title, an optional description, a web address (its slug), a status and a body you edit in the editor. |
| Knowledge base | A separate workspace inside the wiki. Every page belongs to exactly one. An internal knowledge base is for your team; a public one is served on your help center. |
| Folder | A container for pages inside a knowledge base. Folders can nest. On the help center a folder is shown as a category. |
| Subpage | A page nested under another page, its parent page. Subpages show indented under their parent in the sidebar tree. |
| Draft / Published / Archived | A page's status. Drafts and archived pages carry a chip in the tree and the list; published pages carry none. |
| Pin | A page kept at the top of the Wiki page. My pins are yours alone; Pinned pages are pinned for everyone. |
| Owner | A teammate responsible for a page, listed under People in its details. Owners can edit, share and publish it. |
| Visibility | Who can open a page: Everyone in org, Team, Specific people or Private. |
| Permission | What a person or team can do on a page: View, Comment or Edit. |
| Tag | A label such as #runbook that you can put on any page and browse by. Tags can be grouped, for example by Type or Owner. |
| Version | A snapshot of the page taken every time it is saved. Versions can be compared and restored. |
| Comment | A note attached to a passage or to the whole page. A change request is a comment that asks for a specific fix. |
| Review | An approval from a teammate. A knowledge base can require an approved review before a page is published. |
| Backlink | A page that links to the page you are reading. Pages link to each other with [[ links. |
| Help center | The public website built from your public knowledge bases. See the Help Center guides. |

- Bold text is a label you will see on screen, such as a button, a tab or a field.
- A path with arrows, such as Navigation → Wiki, means open the first item, then the next.
- Italic text is a value you might pick or type, such as a tag name.
- Screenshots were taken in a demo workspace called Acme Inc. Your knowledge bases, pages and team members will differ.
